HOME Jesus said to share the gospel with others – with Jews and Gentiles. Jesus told us to love our Father in Heaven with all our heart and soul. He said to love our neighbors as ourself. We are to humbly serve others. We are not to be selfish (though we must care for ourselves), to hoard (though we must prepare) or to go into seclusion (though we must be separate). We must love our neighbors like we love ourselves. So that means we need to love ourselves, not selfishly, but to let go of any stumblingblock that makes us feel unworthy. We are part of the Kingdom of God - part of His ministry, part of His church and breathing each and every day to enjoy our small part working for Him and getting to enjoy His blessings. That is the heart we should strive for - the heart of Christ. Wherever we live, we have a circle of contact and we are responsible for those people: first we care for their spiritual needs, then their mental nurturing of hope, and their physical practical needs for survival. If we are to be Christ-like, we must understand what we are capable of and what we are responsible for. We can see evil and call evil deeds evil, but the hearts of men can be turned and can be redeemed through Christ. We have been redeemed - and we must ask for this for all we encounter. We are a light shining brightly that encourages all we encounter and we bring those people closer to the Father through Christ. If we stop breathing in two minutes, will our last words, deeds and emotions reflect the heart of Christ? By grace we live and by grace we are redeemed. It is our Father in Heaven who gives us breath to live this day. As a small child, we will wonder at life. We will give thanks and praise for all that our Father gives us. We have one brief life on this earth, to give to others. Troubled times bring people to God and to their knees - bring them to a state of thanksgiving and a time of praise. Even in disasters, people with a loving heart see the good in all things and can be thankful for the things they have left, the mercies God has shown and appreciation for the kindness of strangers. Imagine a strange who loses everything and is hungry - this will bring him to his knees to know God. If you are there to reinforce his faith and provide for his needs, he will know what it means to be a Christian who not only talks the talk, but who walks the walk. |
