HELPING OTHERS

God loves us, so we should love others. If He loves us even though we are not perfect, we should be able to love others whom we feel are imperfect.

Jesus told us to love our neighbors. It was not just advice - it was a commandment! Jesus told us to love God. Then, He said to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Love is central to life. Right now, we are far from agape love and we need to think about that fact. True Christ-like love is vital to living each and every day.

He said that what we do to others, we do to Him! Wow. That is a wake-up call! It is time to examine ourselves and repent of wrongdoing. We need to ask God to help up each day.

We live in an electronic age and love is waxing cold. We need to bring humanity and compassion back into life. Instead of sad emojis, we need hugs. We need to share our life experiences whether they be bad or good. Joy is important. Tears are important. The heart-to-heart connection is especially important for Christians. We need to encourage one another as end times progress. What if someone we love gives up on God and we know we didn't encourage them? Every day can be a battle and it wears a person down. That is what satan wants. He wants people to give up! We need to work each day being an example and an inspiration to others! We are the shining beacon on the hill! The unsaved need Christ and they will also look to you for help. Share the Gospel with them.

If we are to truly help people, as times become more stressful, we need to know their needs. The best way is to ask them if they are doing okay. Ask them if they have any problems and offer to help in some way that you can. If they appear to need food, take a casserole over mid-week and chat for a couple of minutes. It will warm their tummy and their spirit. If someone doesn't have money for a babysitter, you could volunteer to babysit so parents can have a break. If a neighbor can't afford to repair their car - and you have the skills - offer to repair the car. If someone obviously needs money for school clothes for their kids, pick up some used clothing at the Goodwill store and drop the box off on their porch. They don't need to know who helped them.

Good deeds come back to you. Some time you may be in need, and someone will be there for you. We can always pray for people. Ask for their specific needs and pray specifically. We can start by listening, but hearing is not enough, we must also do what we can.

1 John 4:4-11

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Matthew 22:37-40

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Matthew 24:12

And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

2 Corinthians 13:5

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Psalms 28:3

Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity,
which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.

Matthew 5:14-16

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Titus 3:14

And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.

James 1:22-27

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. 27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
