HOW TO COPE
WITH EXTREME STRESS
What can you do to help yourself?
FEEL LIKE
YOU NEED HELP? HELP
SOMEONE ELSE!
It is important to understand that more and more people are under stress and in need of many things. When you look at your life and feel that you really are needing help, sometimes the best thing you can do to help yourself is to look around you and find someone who really is hurting. How can you help that person? Maybe make a supper for them and drop it off at their home or help someone doing heavy labor that really is not able to do the task alone. Maybe mailing a card to someone who is ill. Maybe visiting a person who is lonely in a nursing home. The list is endless - just look around you in compassion. Also, go to church and share your needs. Your Troubles
If you feel that your life is stressful or in crisis and you are having trouble coping, you probably think no one can help you out of your situation. However, there is immediate and lasting hope available for you! Sounds like a big promise that can't be kept, a fairy tale, a lie - or like others don't really comprehend your complex problems, right?
In the heat of stress or crisis, people need to break down the situation and look at the actual elements of that problem. What are the immediate life and death problems or dangers, what are the really emotionally upsetting problems and what are the smaller aggravating problems? When you break down a situation, you can clearly see one or two or three very large issues at hand. By breaking down the situation you are in, you can see real crisis, emotional crisis and frustrations.
Frustrations are not an immediate need to fix this moment, and you can have time to handle those at a later time when you are not emotionally spent.
Write down what you consider frustrations, to deal with them later.
Emotional problems are best to handle after you have had a good night's sleep
and are thinking very clearly. You need time to really think through how you want to respond to an issue that causes such an emotional, passionate and extreme response.
Life and death danger is a very
different situation. A crisis needs
to be dealt with immediately,
in am manner that separates you
and those you care about from a
critical situation or danger.
So, right now, objectively, what is the immediate analysis of your situation?
Do, you see a life and death danger, an emotionally charged problem or a
very frustrating issue that you really want gone right now in your life? How imporant is the problem causing your life crisis or stress?
Sometimes a problem seems worse because we don't have a friend to discuss feelings with, or a trusted source to give advice to you, or you don't have hope that anything can actually be done to remedy the situation.
In this world, the only opinion that matters: what does God think of you?
Don't worry about what other people think, how you feel or how difficult life may become now with this crisis. Just consider the concept objectively: how God thinks of you is all that really matters right now! God loves you. He wants you to love Him in return. In love, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to pay for your sins past, present and future. If you repent of sin, ask Christ into your life and accept God's gift, you are His child. He can solve all stress. (Read more...) |
